Are you passionate about supporting young learners with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant primary school in Gateshead. This exciting opportunity is perfect for individuals who are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of young students.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant - Primary, you will play a crucial role in supporting our primary-aged students, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to deliver tailored interventions and provide one-on-one support to students who need it most.

Responsibilities of SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons for primary-aged students with SEMH needs.
  • Provide individual and small group support to students.
  • Help to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support teachers with classroom management and administrative tasks.
  • Participate in school events and extracurricular activities.
  • Monitor and report on student progress.

Requirements of SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • A degree in a relevant subject.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for working with young people, especially those with SEMH needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
