About the Role:

Gateshead Council is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Protection Social Worker to join our Children's Social Care team. You will play a crucial role in safeguarding and protecting children at risk, ensuring they have the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments and investigations of child protection concerns
  • Develop and implement comprehensive care plans to address the needs of children and families
  • Work closely with families, schools, and other agencies to provide support and intervention
  • Represent the council in court proceedings and other legal matters
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of child protection policies and procedures

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Social Work degree or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in child protection work
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage complex cases
