I am looking for dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants who are interested in joining the team at a vibrant and inclusive SEN school in Gateshead. This role is to start ASAP, though we can accommodate a start in January for applicants with extended notice periods. We are supporting this school, with whom we have worked for a prolonged period, to recruit up to 3 Teaching Assistants / Learning Support Assistants to provide support to key children across school. Our client offers a high level of support to the staff they employ, and in return for your commitment, will invite you to any staff training they run and additionally will look at any specific training they can organise for you related to your role. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide tailored support to students with Special Educational Needs. 

  • Assist in the implementation of Education Health Care Plans. 

  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment. 

  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, carers and other professionals to support student development. 

  • Help with classroom management and organisation. 

Requirements: 

  • Experience working with children with a range of Special Educational Needs including Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Profound and Multiple learning difficulties and Severe Learning Difficulties. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude. 

  • Level 3 qualifications in supporting teaching and learning 

  • Knowledge of approaches which are successful when working with SEN children.
