Main Purpose of the Role:

Reporting to the Engineering & Reliability Manager, working within the company’s Integrated Supply Chain Solutions - Commercial Programs department, the Reliability Engineer will support aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of commercial aircrafts.

The role requires the individual to perform analysis to identify and report trends related to system anomalies, equipment, discrepancies and performance reliability problems as assigned and lead on data analysis to evaluate reported discrepancies, to determine root cause, develop solutions, recommendations and presentations for leadership, suppliers and customers.

The post-holder will act as Engineering & Reliability representative for the company to key airline customers, attending technical review meetings, reliability & component meetings attended by a variety of customer representatives up to and including senior management. Develops and fosters a good working relationship with customers and colleagues.

Ultimately the position will work as part of the International Engineering team to identify and resolve issues and communicate regular updates to colleagues across the UK and international offices as well as airline customers.

Duties & Responsibilities of the Reliability Engineer:

  • To use knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and systems with ability to read, understand and interpret engineering technical information (e.g., drawings, handbooks, Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM), industry standards and specifications).
  • Develop retrofit plans and monitoring fleet performance on specific reliability projects, creating supply chain test plans, laying out specific work scope requirements, and specific repair order instructions as required to Improve Reliability of aircraft components.
  • Perform research and lead discussion with component manufacturers and operators to develop innovative and effective solutions to increase reliability and/or save cost on repair schemes.
  • Generate business cases and cost/benefit analyses of modifications and other maintenance recommendations.
  • Lead research on a wide range of complex technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the MRO suppliers.
  • Analyse and report data to monitor relevant Reliability KPIs such as removals per 1000/hrs, LTU, FOF and NFF rates.
  • Lead root cause analysis and develop solutions and recommendations for the continuous improvement of Engineering KPIs.
  • Create presentations for key internal and external stakeholders including senior leadership, suppliers and the customer.
  • Perform comprehensive FRACAS analyses on failed components.
  • Perform a liaison functionality with airlines, supply chain partners, internal company repair facilities and internal/external stake holders.
  • Report any issues to the Manager in a timely manner.
  • Understand and contribute to ensuring departmental and company targets are met

To Be Considered:

  • Proven experience in working within a similar engineering role, ideally within the aerospace sector however other sectors such as Automotive and Manufacturing will also be considered
  • Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Must be able to demonstrate in depth knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and discipline in your application
  • Excellent communication skills - clarifies purpose and importance, stresses major points, and follows a logical sequence
  • Strong analytical skills - skill and ability to collect, organize, synthesise, and analyse data, summarise findings, develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources at the department, supplier and customer levels
