Materials Design Engineer - 39925 - £25.96/hr umbrella rate

What You Will Do:

- Lead the selection, validation, and approval of materials and technologies for new programmes, ensuring the highest standards of innovation and quality.

- Coordinate materials management across the business, providing technical guidance and support to various engineering teams.

- Contribute to the creation of technical reports, specifications, and design rules, enhancing the company's knowledge base and material standards.

- Participate in research and innovation projects, offering materials engineering insights to drive forward-thinking solutions.

- Engage in laboratory failure investigation projects, utilising your analytical skills to solve complex challenges.

- Offer consultancy services across the company, aiding in materials selection and problem-solving with a focus on sustainable solutions.

What You Will Bring:

- A Degree in Materials/Mechanical Engineering or a related field, underpinning your technical expertise.

- Proven experience in metallurgy and working with metallic components, ideally within the automotive industry or a similar high-tech field.

- A strong background in laboratory work, including managing facilities and conducting material characterisation and analysis.

- Excellent project management and organisational skills, capable of leading initiatives with minimal guidance.
