An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineer to join our Technical / Design Office in Kings Lynn. We are a family-owned, customer focused business that has been established for 34 years and known for the design, manufacture and installation of top-quality food processing equipment and systems for some of the nation’s favorite food brands!

The Role

  • Design new equipment to meet process requirements.
  • Modelling of parts, assemblies and detail drawings using Solidworks 3D software.
  • 3D Scanning of existing sites and equipment.
  • Creation of weldment cut lists, bills of materials and assembly/dis-assembly diagrams.
  • Improvement of existing equipment and fabrication/assembly processes.
  • Ensuring that equipment meets necessary safety and environmental regulations.
  • Co-ordinating with the Senior Design Engineer to ensure close liaison of the D.O with the Sales, Manufacturing and Site operations to ensure the smooth running of projects.
  • Provide advice and guidance on solutions to engineering problems.
  • Consider ‘Standardisation’ of various specific equipment.
  • Regular analysis of design objectives to ensure good fit with customer needs.
  • Providing advice and guidance on solutions to engineering problems.
  • Surveying of existing equipment and site installations.
  • Liaising with clients to understand and fulfill their equipment requirements.
  • Production of operating and maintenance documentation for equipment.

Essential skills

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience designing capital equipment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • The ability to confidently create 3D and 2D models, layouts, assemblies, and detailed drawings using SolidWorks (full training will be provided).
  • Detailed understanding of sheet metal design and manufacture.
  • A thorough understanding of the requirements for hygienic design of equipment for the food industry.
