We are seeking an experienced and passionate Library Manager to lead our team and manage daily operations. Role Overview:As the Library Manager, you will be responsible for the smooth and effective operation of the library, ensuring excellent customer service, managing library resources, and leading a team of staff. You will help implement library strategies, develop new programs and initiatives, and maintain a welcoming and engaging environment for library users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the library, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Develop and deliver innovative programs and services that meet the needs of the local community.
  • Oversee the library’s collections, ensuring that resources are relevant, up-to-date, and accessible to all users.
  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, including community groups, schools, and local businesses.
  • Ensure the library is a welcoming and safe space for all visitors.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the library team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Monitor and evaluate library services, ensuring they are in line with organizational goals and community needs.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and library facilities, ensuring effective use of funds and resources.
  • Stay up-to-date with trends in library services and technologies to continually improve library offerings.

Key Requirements:

  • A relevant degree or professional qualification in library and information management or a related field.
  • Previous experience in library management or a similar leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of library systems, resources, and emerging technologies.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage a diverse team and work effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • A passion for libraries, reading, and promoting literacy and learning.
  • Knowledge of health and safety protocols, library regulations, and best practices.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working with digital platforms and library management systems.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial management.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus.
