Job Title: Maintenance Engineer

Location: Denham

Contract type: Permanent

This position is responsible for performing modifications, retrofit activity, corrective action, overhaul, repair and maintenance. To assist the Customer Defects Team in testing, disassembling and assembling returned defective equipment.

Conducting stage and final inspection on equipment in accordance with Technical Manuals, Standard ,Operating Procedures and Acceptance Test Procedures.

 

Role Responsibilities – Maintenance Engineer

  • Conduct surveys and provide reports on incoming equipment, to assess the time taken to complete the work needed.
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance on seats and components returned by customers.
  • Conduct repairs and embody modifications on customer equipment. This may involve investigating and confirming the reported damage and or defect and the repair/fitting of new or replacement parts in accordance with the approved data.
  • Set up, functionally test and adjust components, assemblies and systems for required performance using precision instruments, special test equipment and mechanical measuring devices.
  • Investigate any defects that may arise as part of the inspection process; where minor rectify the defects and where significant record a failure in accordance with Quality procedures.
  • Accurately and systematically complete associated maintenance paperwork in timely manner ensuring that component parts, serial numbers and data are captured in accordance with company procedures. 
  • Use SAP using the shop floor terminals to ensure that work in progress, and the location of components and parts are accurately always recorded.

 

The Successful Maintenance Engineer will possess the following:

  • Have served a recognized relevant trade apprenticeship or trade training equivalent
  • Knowledge of general aircraft maintenance and environment processes (FOD control, tool control).
  • Experienced in the maintenance, modification and repair of aircraft components.
  • General work background in manufacturing / engineering
  • Inspection experience desirable
  • Aerospace background desirable
  • Basic grounding in H&S policies and procedures, and COSHH
  • Numeracy and geometry skills
  • Experience of using Inspection Tools and Equipment
  • Working knowledge of GDT (geometrical dimensional tolerancing)
  • Experience of using hand tools
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Capable of explaining technical terms and processes
  • Basic PC skills
