Your new company

For over 30 years, this charity has been focused on delivering real change, impacting across a whole continent, with over 70 projects running in 2025, giving back to the communities that they serve. They have a highly engaged and people-focused team and are looking to add a new Finance Officer to their back-office team. The role is based near Gillingham, paying 33-35,000 for 4 or 5 days per week. You will be working in a pleasant office space 3-4 days a week, with working from home available 1-2 days a week.

Your new role

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for all aspects of the accounting and overseeing an Accounts Assistant as required. You will be a key individual within the team, responsible for the monthly trial balance, accruals & prepayments, grant planning & schedules, fixed assets, various HMRC returns and overseeing the ledger activity. You will support the Head of Finance with year-end, budgeting and some MI reporting. The role requires strong attention to detail, the appetite to improve systems/processes and the flexibility to pitch in with ad hoc tasks as needed.

What you'll need to succeed

Previous experience of a hands-on role in a small business, with broad accounting experience. Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal. IT literate, particularly with Excel. Charity experience would be advantageous but is certainly not a pre-requisite.

What you'll get in return

Fantastic working culture, joining a close-knit, collaborative team who are making a real difference. Competitive salary based on experience with flexibility to work 4 or 5 days a week. 28 days holiday (plus 8 bank holidays), pension and flexibility to work from home 1-2 days a week.
