Mechanical Estimator

Our client is a well established mechanical and electrical contractor based in Mid Kent. Due to a prolonged upturn in works and a busy order book well into 2025 they are looking to expand the extensive team and are now looking for a mechanical estimator.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with one of Kent's leading specialist contractors working on new build residential developments across the region.

Working Monday to Friday 75k - 95k plus package

Applicants will be responsible for compiling mechanical estimates for the company's projects, working out how much a project is likely to cost and create budgets accordingly. The role will also include assessing material, labour and equipment required and analysing different quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.

  • preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client;
  • performing risk and value management and cost control;
  • advising on procurement strategy;
  • identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks;
  • preparing and analysing costings for tenders;
  • submitting bids;
  • analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports;
  • valuing completed work and arranging payments;
  • writing reports;
  • preparing and submitting final accounts;
  • making valuations;
  • providing advice and forecasts about costs;

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Building Services Engineering or equivalent
  • Technically competent with a good understanding of mechanical installation methods and pricing
  • Experience on large residential projects

Experience on QuickScale or Extreme Estimating programmes an advantage but not essential

  • Strong mathematical and IT skills
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point
