Fire Service Engineer

Location: Gillingham, KentSalary: £34,000 - £40,000 per annum

Our client, a leader in the fire and safety industry, is seeking experienced and motivated Fire Service Engineers to join their professional and supportive team. About the Role

As a Fire Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, installation, commissioning, and fault-finding of fire alarm and suppression systems. This hands-on role demands technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to build strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Performing system maintenance, fault-finding, and responding to emergency callouts.
  • Handling reactive, minor, or additional works on systems including:
    • Automatic fire detection systems.
    • Fire extinguishing systems (Gas Suppression).
    • Fire Aspiration Alarm Systems.
  • Conducting minor remedial and fault rectification works during PPM visits.
  • Escalating urgent or critical issues and offering resourceful solutions.
  • Assisting in mentoring trainees, ensuring best practices are upheld.
  • Developing effective client relationships and identifying potential leads for future work.
  • Preparing for and attending engineers’ meetings as required.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Proven experience in the fire industry with expertise in installing, testing, commissioning, and servicing fire alarm systems.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities, with the capability to resolve issues through elimination or technical recommendations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Excel and Word, and an understanding of software programming for systems such as Morley, Advanced, and Kentec.
