Location: Gillingham, KentSalary: £34,000 - £40,000 per annum
Our client, a leader in the fire and safety industry, is seeking experienced and motivated Fire Service Engineers to join their professional and supportive team. About the Role
As a Fire Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, installation, commissioning, and fault-finding of fire alarm and suppression systems. This hands-on role demands technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to build strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Performing system maintenance, fault-finding, and responding to emergency callouts.
- Handling reactive, minor, or additional works on systems including:
- Automatic fire detection systems.
- Fire extinguishing systems (Gas Suppression).
- Fire Aspiration Alarm Systems.
- Conducting minor remedial and fault rectification works during PPM visits.
- Escalating urgent or critical issues and offering resourceful solutions.
- Assisting in mentoring trainees, ensuring best practices are upheld.
- Developing effective client relationships and identifying potential leads for future work.
- Preparing for and attending engineers’ meetings as required.
What Our Client is Looking For
Skills and Attributes:
- Proven experience in the fire industry with expertise in installing, testing, commissioning, and servicing fire alarm systems.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities, with the capability to resolve issues through elimination or technical recommendations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Excel and Word, and an understanding of software programming for systems such as Morley, Advanced, and Kentec.
Competencies:
- Customer-focused with excellent client-facing skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently.
- A proactive approach to mentoring trainees and supporting team development.
