Trainee Fall Protection Engineer£26,026 - £34000 DOELocation: Rochester

Our Client is a reputable and growing maintenance and installation business, specialising in working at height safety and BMU maintenance. As experts in this field, they are looking for a motivated individual to join their team as a TraineeWorking at Height Safety Technician.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a 2-person site team, collaborating with a lead engineer to install, maintain, and repair permanent access equipment and fall protection systems.
  • Install and maintain work-at-height systems, including fall restraint and fall arrest safety wire systems, fixed access ladders, handrail systems, gantries, and walkways.
  • Option to assist BMU engineers in maintaining, repairing, and testing Building Maintenance Units (BMUs) at client sites.
  • Travel to job locations primarily within the Southeast, particularly in London and the M25 area.
  • Meet the lead engineer at designated meeting points and travel to job sites in a company vehicle.

To support your professional development, successful candidates will be enrolled in the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Accessing and Rigging - Fall Protection, with progression to Level 3 upon completion.

Essential Skills

  • Strong practical skills and a good hands-on ability.
  • Comfortable working at heights.
  • Willingness to undertake an NVQ qualification.
  • Ability to follow strict safe working practices and job instructions.
  • Reliability and strong organisational skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Numeracy and literacy with attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and a positive attitude to working away from home when required.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to work well in a team and remain calm under pressure.
  • Motivation and enthusiasm to learn and grow in the role.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience within the Work at Height industry.
  • Previous experience in similar roles or industries
  • Experience in a similar role/industry (LOLER inspections, BMU’s, eyebolts, safety wire systems, guardrails).
  • Mechanical/electrical engineering experience.
