About the Role:
Supply Desk are delighted to be working with a well-regarded primary school in Gillingham, seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support to a child in KS2 with SEND, specifically ASD. This highly rewarding role involves helping the child access the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • One-to-One Support: Deliver tailored, consistent support to the child, addressing their unique needs and helping them navigate barriers to learning.
  • Lesson Assistance: Collaborate with the class teacher to adapt materials and teaching strategies, ensuring the child engages effectively with the curriculum.
  • Progress Monitoring: Record and track the child’s progress, offering regular, detailed feedback to teachers, SENCO, and parents.
  • Promote Inclusion: Foster the child’s social and emotional growth by creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have significant experience supporting children and young people with SEND, particularly ASD, in an educational setting.
  • Exhibit a calm, inclusive, and consistent approach to building trust and rapport.
  • Be patient, empathetic, and skilled in managing behaviours related to ASD.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with the child, staff, and parents.
  • Be proactive in identifying opportunities for learning and development.
  • Hold a relevant qualification or substantial experience in a similar role.
  • Have a current, valid DBS or be willing to obtain one.
