Facilities Officer (Caretaker)

Location: Gillingham

Salary: £14.13ph / £23,881 per annum

Start Date: ASAP

We are looking for a Facilities Officer to join a busy team. This is a combined role of Security (10%) and Caretaker (90%), with the potential for a permanent position. The role will involve ensuring the security and upkeep of the premises, while providing excellent customer service and carrying out maintenance tasks.

DBS is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Security:
    • Opening and closing the premises.
    • Conducting fire alarm tests.
    • Dealing with high-risk situations and students.
    • Incident reporting and CCTV monitoring.
    • Key handling and signing in equipment.
  • Caretaker:
    • Front-of-house duties, responding to departmental needs.
    • Reporting and addressing maintenance issues.
    • Using email, SharePoint, Teams, and office tools.
    • Task prioritisation and reporting over radio's.
    • Manual handling, furniture moving for events, and cleaning tasks (training provided).
    • Greeting guests and checking car park permits.
    • Ensuring the premises are clean and tidy, including litter picking and spill cleaning.

We have two shifts available:

  • Shift 1: 6:00 AM - 1:00 PM (30-min lunch break) (occasional late teaching may mean finishing at later times.)
  • Shift 2: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM (30-min lunch break) (occasional late teaching may mean finishing at later times.)
  • Occasional weekend work may be required with prior notice.
