This is an exciting opportunity to join an established business as an Buyer in Rochester. This role is on a temporary basis for 3 months with a possible extension of a further 3 months. With a focus on supplier management, your role will also be to support the procurement management team through data analysis, forecasting and market research. Excellent communication skills are essential in this role to build and maintain effective working relationships. Duties include

  • Meet new suppliers and negotiate terms, building positive relationships
  • Maintain existing relationships with suppliers
  • Understand vendor management, allocation and price negotiation
  • Liaise with other departments
  • Plan, monitor, maintaining suitable inventory levels
  • Raise, place and track purchase orders
  • Ensure products are purchased at the right time to specification
  • Consolidate customer forecasts to support accuracy in stock handling
  • Purchase items for factory trials
  • Conduct market research
  • Carry out spot checks on as required

The person:

  • Experience in the FMCG industry
  • Experience with negotiation
  • Advanced knowledge or Excel
  • Knowledge of ERP systems
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • CIPS qualifications (or equivalent) or working towards.

The role is fully office based, Monday to Friday 9:00 - 17:30 and salary is negotiable
