Overview

A leading engineering services provider is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their growing Central Services Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a mechanically-biased engineer to step into a customer-facing, technically diverse role across a range of industrial sectors. You'll be covering key sites across Scotland (Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee), with minimal overnight travel and a fully equipped service van.



Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a variety of mechanical systems and installations.

  • Diagnose and repair faults to ensure safe and efficient operation of installed equipment.

  • Support customers across sectors including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, food manufacturing, and research.

  • Install and commission bulk equipment at customer sites, working alongside in-house engineering and project teams.

  • Participate in a 1-in-7 on-call rota, responding to emergency service calls (additional pay applies).

  • Order and manage parts, tools, and materials required to complete maintenance and installation tasks.

  • Supervise contractors or apprentices once trained and experienced.

  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to team knowledge sharing.

  • Represent the business as a customer-facing ambassador on site, upholding strong service standards.



About You

  • Vocational qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) preferred; Electrical or Instrumentation backgrounds also considered.

  • Hands-on experience in maintenance, installation, or commissioning roles.

  • Strong fault-finding ability across mechanical systems (some electrical experience advantageous).

  • Full UK driving licence required.

  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own schedule.

  • Confident communicator with a proactive, customer-first approach.

  • Ability to braze copper pipe would be highly desirable (not essential).

  • Willing to take part in an on-call rota and occasional travel (rare overnight stays).
