1. Overall, Purpose of the Job
To assist management and relevant departments in implementing continual improvements to enhance the engineering & manufacturing capabilities, efficiency, output and critically the quality of our product into the market.
2. Duties & Objectives
- Drive Continuous Improvement Activities for all departments
- Manage and implement a portfolio of improvement projects that are aligned to business needs
- Monitor and Report on project delivery
- Research and develop innovative solutions to improve Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery of our people, products, plant and processes.
- Liaise with 3rd party providers to determine solutions for CI projects.
- Collate and analyse performance data to determine opportunities for improvement
- Generate risk assessments and safe systems of work, provide engineering assistance and guidance to all other factory departments.
- Train and develop employees including apprentices.
- Manage introduction of new equipment/processes, including FAT, commissioning etc.
- Develop and improve condition based maintenance tasks to improve machine reliability.
- Liaise with CI & Engineering Manager on progressing work.
- Ensure good working standard are maintained throughout the CI Team.
- Organize workplace area to ensure it is clean, tidy and the workspace is properly utilised.
- Any other reasonable work requested by Manager or Supervisors to ensure effective operation of the business.
- Ensure that company standard and procedures are followed.
- Ensure all procedures are carried out or generated in line with safety instructions e.g. safe systems of work, risk assessments, permit to work, hot work permit, lock out tag out and one point lessons
- Maintain and improve effective working relationships with other departments.
3. Responsibilities
Responsible for personal and general factory health and safety in line with the company health and safety policy outlined in the Company Handbook.
Deliver projects that demonstrate safe, compliant, and sustainable solutions to operational issues and waste.
4. Skills, Knowledge, Experience
Skills
- Competence in Electrical/Mechanical systems with minimum HNC in either discipline
- Competent in CAD systems
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent communication
Knowledge
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing.
- Min yellow belt in six sigma.
- Must have worked in an engineering role.
- PLC control systems
- understanding of Q-Pulse or other quality management systems
Experience
- High level of technical competence min 5yrs experience a technical discipline.
