Job Purpose

Our client is looking for aStructural building survey/technicianwho will support surveyors and engineers by conducting diagnostic testing, collecting data, and assisting with site records and report preparation. Using various surveying equipment and technologies, the technician will help diagnose and record structural conditions, building dimensions, and infrastructure details. This role operates under the guidance of senior surveyors and engineers to ensure accuracy in all surveying tasks.


Key Responsibilities

Fieldwork

  • Assist with surveying structures, buildings, and infrastructure using a range of surveying equipment.
  • Collect core and dust samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Use company diagnostic testing tools.
  • Record defects on drawings and collaborate with the AutoCAD department.

Data Collection and Processing

  • Gather and process site data from surveys for engineering, construction, and development projects.
  • Input and update survey data as requested by the surveyor or engineer.
  • Ensure data accuracy and compliance with project specifications and quality standards.

Survey Equipment Operation and Maintenance

  • Operate and maintain a variety of surveying tools and equipment.
  • Perform routine calibration and minor maintenance on instruments to ensure proper functionality.
  • Troubleshoot basic equipment issues during fieldwork.

Support for Senior Surveyors/Engineers

  • Collaborate closely with senior surveyors and project managers to meet project timelines and specifications.
  • Assist in setting up and managing equipment in challenging environments such as urban areas, rural landscapes, and construction sites.

Compliance and Safety

  • Conduct surveys in line with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols, particularly when working in hazardous environments or high-traffic areas.
  • Stay updated on advancements in surveying technologies and industry regulations.

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong familiarity with surveying equipment.
  • Attention to Detail: High accuracy in measurements, data collection, and reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Certificate/Diploma in Surveying, NDT, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Practical experience in surveying or civil engineering projects.
  • Proficient in using computers, tablets, and survey/NDT software.
  • Experience with survey instruments.

Desirable

  • Experience in construction or civil engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety regulations.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver's license; ability to travel to project sites (company vehicle provided).
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and on construction sites.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry surveying equipment.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular hours when required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk, stand, and carry equipment for extended periods during fieldwork.
  • Capable of working in diverse outdoor environments, including rugged terrain and confined spaces.

Job Details
