Our client is searching for a skilled and experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their team. As a key member of the pre-construction team, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for mechanical services on a wide range of construction projects across Glasgow predominantly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical services, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, based on drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
  • Analyse project specifications and designs to determine materials, equipment, and labor required for the job.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and procurement teams to ensure that all mechanical aspects of the project are fully understood and accurately costed.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services, ensuring estimates are comprehensive and cost-effective.
  • Evaluate risks and contingencies associated with projects and incorporate them into the estimates.
  • Present and justify cost estimates to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Monitor and update cost databases and pricing schedules to reflect current market trends.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documentation and submissions.
  • Provide support in value engineering processes to optimise project costs without compromising quality or performance.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the construction or M&E sector.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and services, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with clients, suppliers, and project teams.
  • Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard practices and regulations.
