This consultancy is looking for a talented and collaborative Senior Civil Engineer who shares their purpose and desire to make a positive difference to the world around them.

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will join their friendly Edinburgh or Glasgow office, bringing with you experience across a mix of sectors including residential, education, commercial, development and regeneration. Collaborative and helpful you will have the opportunity to work closely with high profile private and public-sector clients, influencing with your technical expertise and effective communication skills.

What you need to succeed:

  • Degree qualified you will ideally be Chartered or Incorporated with an industry institution such as ICE, IStructE, CIWEM, or CIHT and have strong relevant experience with a proven track record of delivering projects.
  • In-depth understanding of industry processes, including planning applications, procurement, and technical approvals.
  • Proficiency in industry software like Microdrainage, Causeway Flow, Civil 3D, and AutoCAD.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, graphical).
  • Exceptional report-writing skills.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • High proficiency in MS Office products (Excel, Word).
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Strong teamwork and time management skills.

The role:

  • Lead and mentor project teams, overseeing engineers of varying experience levels.
  • Take charge of multiple projects, ensuring they meet or exceed quality standards and deadlines. Engage with clients, collaborators, and stakeholders while efficiently allocating resources and coordinating processes according to their QMS and IMS.
  • Assist in the development of junior team members, identifying training needs, equipment requirements, and software licenses.
  • Monitor project profitability, striving to deliver projects within budget and timelines, and communicate any potential billing or labour plan changes to Project Associates or Directors.
  • Maintain and enhance their reputation in client-facing roles, contribute to securing repeat business, and identify new opportunities. Participate in bids for new projects as needed.
