The Cloud Engineer will oversee the complete lifecycle of Azure and Microsoft 365 cloud infrastructure, including planning, deploying, maintaining, and decommissioning services. Key responsibilities include managing M365 collaboration tools (e.g., Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Intune), integrating Azure services, and supporting hybrid cloud solutions.

What are the day-to-day tasks?
- Optimises the performance, reliability, and scalability of Azure and M365 cloud infrastructure.
- Ensures effective management of resources, including cost optimisation, scaling, and efficient allocation in Azure and M365 environments.
- Identifies, records, monitors, and resolves operational issues across Azure and M365 platforms.
- Produces detailed status updates, performance reports, and insights to support stakeholders, technical teams, and end users.
- Aligns operational processes with M365 admin best practices
- Maintains comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date operational procedures and documentation for Azure and M365.
- Oversees the planning, installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of Azure services and M365 infrastructure, ensuring smooth transitions during system updates or migrations.
- Defines and enforces safety and security procedures for cloud services, delegating tasks as needed.
- Reviews and analyses incidents, including breaches of service-level agreements across Azure and M365.
- Implements automation tools and processes to streamline the management of Azure and M365 systems (e.g., scripting with PowerShell, Terraform, or other automation tools).
- Promotes automation to enhance operational efficiency, including deployment, monitoring, and reporting.
- Conducts in-depth root cause analyses for major outages affecting Azure or M365 services and provides recommendations to improve resilience.
- Reviews system performance to resolve recurring issues
- Ensures consistent delivery of service-level and operational-level agreements for Azure and M365 platforms.
- Monitors and reports on service-level metrics, providing actionable recommendations to improve performance and meet expectations.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- Strong Microsoft 365 administration skills, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Intune.
- Extensive knowledge of Azure services, hybrid cloud architectures, and automation tools.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep.
- Proficiency with automation scripting using PowerShell, Python, or similar languages, with a focus on M365 admin tasks.
- Understanding of cloud security principles, including Conditional Access, Secure Score, and compliance policies in M365.
- Hands-on experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architectures.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools for CI/CD pipelines and distributed deployment.
- Experience monitoring and maintaining cloud environments using tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
- Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases, messaging, and queuing services (e.g., Azure Service Bus).
- Ability to design and implement self-healing, fault-tolerant cloud solutions.
Qualifications:
- University degree in computer science, IT, or software engineering, or 5+ years of equivalent work experience in a cloud environment.
- Qualifications such as the following would be extremely advantageous:
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator (highly advantageous), Azure Administrator Associate
- Other cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are desirable
