JOB DESCRIPTIONSupport and assist the Signalling Team Leader in carrying out signalling or other associated works as directed in a safe and responsible manner. Responsible for assisting the Signalling Team Leader in all duties, including, but not limited to, signalling disconnections/reconnections, SMTH testing, ensuring all work is carried out in a safe and compliant manner.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES OR MAIN TASKS
  • Carry out SMTH testing as directed by the Signalling Team Leader.
  • Complete all documentation/paperwork as required within the required time scales.
  • Undertake other work as directed by the Signalling Team Leader, ensuring all work complies with current quality and Group/Line Standards.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Undertake COSS duties as required, together with other relevant safety duties.
  • Work on own as directed by Signalling Team Leader.
  • Use power tools and portable plant where certified to do so.

 

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
  • Knowledge and understanding of the operation of signalling system installation and maintenance.
  • Good knowledge of Rules and Regulations, HASAWA, SMTH and other appropriate regulations, including Group/Line standards.
  • Knowledge of PWay renewals operations

 

PERSON SPECIFICATIONSQualifications & Experience

PTS, Lookout, COSS, and SMTH.

  • Excellent ability to use hand and powered tools.
  • Able to understand and carry out instructions.
  • Able to relay information concisely.
  • Able to work as member of a multifunctional team.
  • Able drive or willing to learn.
  • 2 years work experience or previous background working with either electrical or mechanical equipment.
