The Milling Operator will oversee the operation of manual turning and thread milling machinery, including the dressing of screw sets and the inspection of finished components to uphold process control standards.
Responsibilities of Milling Operator:
- Operate thread milling machines and any additional equipment introduced in the future.
- De-burr screw sets and align idlers and rotors to specification.
- Assess and refine setup processes, working methods, and procedures, including standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Develop skills in operating a range of manual machinery, such as drills, mills, and broaching equipment, to enhance operational flexibility.
- Conduct quality inspections of components in line with technical drawings and required specifications.
- Monitor and maintain efficiency records for all machinery.
- Carry out safety and housekeeping duties to ensure a clean and hazard-free work environment.
- Perform machine setup tasks as required.
- Conduct daily maintenance and preventative servicing of machinery where necessary.
- Take part in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives, including risk assessments within the manufacturing process.
What are we looking for in a Milling Operator?
- Qualified in material removal processes such as turning, cylindrical grinding, and milling.
- Completed a time-served apprenticeship in manufacturing, with NC/HMC qualifications or an equivalent level of experience.
- Proficient in interpreting manufacturing drawings and understanding production processes.
- Strong numerical and mathematical abilities are crucial.
- Capable of operating manual machinery, including jib cranes
