Jewson, a leading building materials distributor in Northern Europe, is on the hunt for a Timber Mill Operative to join the team in our Glasgow Timber branch in Maxwell Road, Glasgow, who is as passionate about great service as we are.

Hours: 39 hours per week - Mon-Thurs 8am-4:30pm, Fri 8am-3:30pm

Location: Jewson, 129 Maxwell Rd, Glasgow G41 1SN

What you'll be doing:

Our Timber Mill Operatives are very important to the smooth running of the business. Their role is important to help ensure products are where they need to be on time.

  • Get to know our product lines so you can offer advice and help to customers, making the most of all customer interactions in line with our Jewson Values

  • Carry out timber milling to customer specifications - able to understand measurements and customer requirements

  • Understanding of Health & Safety requirements in an Operational environment

  • Awareness and understanding of health and safety standards applicable to machinery or mechanical handling equipment to be used

  • Awareness and understanding of health and safety standards applicable to working in a timber processing plant and timber storage and distribution site

  • Ability to carry out routine inspections

  • Ability to understand, complete and maintain all documentation associated and required by the role

  • Ability to work as a team player within the timber processing plant and overall site operation

What you'll need to have:

  • Previous experience in a similar timber mill environment preferred however training will be provided

  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work accordingly

  • Confident working both indoors and outdoors

  • A health and safety focus

  • Comfortable in a role involving extensive manual handling of bulky items
