Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Surfacing Supervisor to oversee and coordinate all aspects of surfacing operations. The successful candidate will ensure high-quality delivery, adherence to safety standards, and efficient use of resources, working closely with teams to meet project deadlines and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:
  • Plan, schedule, and supervise surfacing activities, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard.
  • Oversee site operations, including preparation, laying, and finishing of surfaces.
  • Monitor daily progress to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Health & Safety Compliance:
  • Enforce compliance with all health and safety regulations on-site.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and toolbox talks to ensure team awareness of risks and best practices.
  • Address and report any incidents or near-misses promptly.
Team Coordination:
  • Lead and motivate site teams, ensuring clear communication and effective collaboration.
  • Provide on-site training or guidance as necessary to improve skills and efficiency.
  • Manage and allocate resources, including labour, materials, and equipment.
Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure all work meets client specifications, industry standards, and project requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections to maintain quality and identify areas for improvement.
  • Liaise with clients to address concerns and provide progress updates.
Administration and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including work completed, resources used, and any issues encountered.
  • Prepare and submit progress reports to senior management.
  • Assist in project planning and provide input for future job estimations.
Person Specification:

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Proven experience in road surfacing or road construction.
  • Previous supervisory experience is essential.
  • Familiarity with plant and machinery used in operations.
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations.
Skills:
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
