We are seeking an experienced Surfacing Supervisor to oversee and coordinate all aspects of surfacing operations. The successful candidate will ensure high-quality delivery, adherence to safety standards, and efficient use of resources, working closely with teams to meet project deadlines and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:Operational Management:
- Plan, schedule, and supervise surfacing activities, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard.
- Oversee site operations, including preparation, laying, and finishing of surfaces.
- Monitor daily progress to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Enforce compliance with all health and safety regulations on-site.
- Conduct regular safety checks and toolbox talks to ensure team awareness of risks and best practices.
- Address and report any incidents or near-misses promptly.
- Lead and motivate site teams, ensuring clear communication and effective collaboration.
- Provide on-site training or guidance as necessary to improve skills and efficiency.
- Manage and allocate resources, including labour, materials, and equipment.
- Ensure all work meets client specifications, industry standards, and project requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections to maintain quality and identify areas for improvement.
- Liaise with clients to address concerns and provide progress updates.
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including work completed, resources used, and any issues encountered.
- Prepare and submit progress reports to senior management.
- Assist in project planning and provide input for future job estimations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in road surfacing or road construction.
- Previous supervisory experience is essential.
- Familiarity with plant and machinery used in operations.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality.
- Proactive and resourceful under pressure.
- Committed to maintaining high standards of safety and performance.
- Full UK driving license.
- Flexibility to work occasional weekends or extended hours when necessary.
- Relevant CSCS or SMSTS certification (desirable).
