A leading national construction consultancy is looking for a Senior Principal Designer to join their dynamic team. Based in Glasgow only 2-4 times a month, this flexible role allows you to work on exciting, high-profile projects while enjoying a balance of office and remote working.

The Senior Principal Designer Role

As the Senior Principal Designer, you will be responsible for managing design risk and ensuring health and safety is embedded into all stages of the design and construction phases. You'll provide expert CDM 2015 advice to clients, architects, and contractors, ensuring projects are delivered safely and efficiently.

With the flexibility of only needing to be in Glasgow 2-4 times a month, this role offers an excellent work-life balance while contributing to industry-leading projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Principal Designer duties, ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 regulations.
  • Provide expert advice on health and safety risk management during the design phase.
  • Prepare and review pre-construction information, risk assessments, and construction phase plans.
  • Conduct thorough design risk assessments and implement hazard elimination strategies.
  • Liaise with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Support and mentor junior team members, helping develop their skills and knowledge.

The Senior Principal Designer

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CIOB, or APS) is desirable.
  • Proven experience as a Principal Designer, with a strong track record of delivering projects in the construction industry.
  • Excellent knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations and health and safety practices.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver within deadlines.
  • Proficient in relevant software and tools.
