Our client, a leading industry supplier in the construction sector, is seeking to expand their team by appointing a Health & Safety Manager for groundworks projects across Central Scotland. If you are passionate about health and safety, this could be the perfect role for you.

As the Health & Safety Manager, you will report directly to the senior directors and take full responsibility for ensuring the company’s compliance with all relevant regulations and legislation. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering a culture where injury prevention and risk management are core principles of our client’s business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creating and maintaining a safe working environment with a strong focus on health and safety.
  • Providing expert guidance and support across various business sectors within the organisation.
  • Managing and developing the Health & Safety department, including training and overseeing H&S personnel.
  • Ensuring adherence to best practices and full compliance with current Health & Safety legislation.
  • Overseeing compliance with mandatory requirements at all construction sites, including site licence conditions, planning conditions, and other Health & Safety considerations.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for the division in Health & Safety regulatory matters, maintaining regular communication with relevant stakeholders, including clients and management.
  • Implementing and maintaining Health & Safety Management Systems in line with ISO9001 standards, ensuring the company’s continued accreditation by the British Standards Institution (BSI).
  • Conducting regular Health & Safety audits across all construction sites.
  • Identifying and implementing necessary corrective actions based on audit findings and risk assessments.
  • Monitoring and reporting on health and safety practices and systems within the company.
  • Providing regular reports to site management on Health & Safety performance.
  • Taking a proactive approach in collaborating with client counterparts to ensure projects are delivered to the required standards.

 Requirements:

  • NEBOSH, GradIOSH, and CSCS qualifications are essential.
  • Proven experience as a Health & Safety Manager.
  • Previous experience in civil engineering, particularly groundworks projects, is desirable.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and support colleagues in fulfilling their responsibilities effectively.
  • A hands-on approach to promoting a positive safety culture both internally and externally.
  • A full UK driving licence.
