Database Administrator (Reliability Engineer)
Location: Glasgow (Hybrid, 1 day per week in office)
Salary: Up to 50k + bonus & benefits
Head Resourcing is excited to partner with one of Scotland's most successful companies to recruit a Database Reliability Engineer or Database Administrator (DBA) looking to grow their automation skills further. This hybrid role is based in our client's modern Glasgow office and focuses on maintaining the reliability, availability, and performance of their database systems. You'll be joining a growing Database Reliability Engineering Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage on-premises SQL Server estate and expanding cloud database systems.
- Plan and implement high-availability solutions.
- Monitor and tune performance.
- Conduct capacity planning.
- Ensure robust backup, restore, and failover processes.
- Contribute to the development of cloud database systems.
- Database Administrator/DBA duties
- Implementing automated processes to streamline database operations, configuration and deployments.
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, PowerShell).
- Knowledge of database design, architecture, and security practices.
- Understanding of always-on availability groups, security, and encryption (e.g., Always Encrypted).
- Familiarity with source control and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub, Azure DevOps).
This role is ideal for someone looking to advance their career with a solid foundation in databases & administration with experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Reliability Engineering or even solid DevOps/automation skills looking to focus on databases and reliability.
