Nexus Resource Solutions are working in partnership with a market leading engineering company who specialise in the engineering and manufacturing services to the offshore, Marine, Renewables and Naval markets.


Due to continued success, they require Mechanical Design Engineer to join their talented engineering department.


Duties:

Develop system design philosophy.

Participate fully in the development of Functional Design Specification, and FMECA Analysis,

Develop design concept and produce detail engineering design of products.

Prepare design calculations and analysis of mechanical systems.

Prepare detailed procurement specs for the relevant system components and sub-systems.

Working closely with Hydraulic and Electrical / Control Engineers to develop operational and control philosophy.

To ensure all engineering activities are completed in compliance with applicable design requirements.

To liaise with Clients to ensure client requirements are met.

To liaise with Third Party Inspection Authorities.

To ensure products are manufactured in accordance with all client and in-house quality requirements.

Support workshop during equipment assembly and testing.

Occasional site installation, commissioning and testing support.


Requirements:

Experience in the design and installation of mechanical systems

Experience in analytical design, including stress analysis, performing calculations, developing and interpreting FEA.

Knowledge of design of hydraulically and electrically actuated equipment would be a distinct advantage.

Problem solving and innovation.

Commercial understanding and experience of design planning and executing work to tight schedules.

Able to manage a varied and interesting workload encompassing all aspects of modern engineering design and be able to work as part of a team, leading project teams where required.


Desirable:

Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a marine environment


Qualifications:

Degree qualified, ideally in Mechanical Engineering


Desirable:

Chartered engineer status (IMechE member or similar)


Tools and Software:

Knowledge of 3D design modelling and drawing techniques


Desirable:

Experience in the use of Solidworks

Experience in the use of MathCAD


Salary/Hours:

£35k-£45k DOE

7.5% pension

Hybrid working

Mon & Fri home working in place

37hr week
