First People Solutions are working with a well-established civil engineering contractor to recruit an experienced General Foreman. This is an excellent opportunity to join a team and play a key leadership role on projects including road planing, surfacing, and general civil engineering works, with values ranging from 5k to 1.5m.

You will oversee 2-3 projects simultaneously, managing daily on-site operations and ensuring each is delivered to the highest standard, on schedule, and in line with safety and quality regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Supervision and Leadership

Oversee multiple sites, managing resources, subcontractors, and labourers.
Supervise and motivate site teams to ensure high-quality work and efficient completion of tasks.

Enforce strict adherence to CDM 2015 regulations, Health & Safety standards, and Chapter 8 requirements.
Conduct regular site inspections, documenting findings and reporting them to the manager.
Promote a safety-first culture and deliver daily briefings and toolbox talks to the team.

Monitor drainage and shoring system installations, concrete placement, and reinforcement for foundations and structural slabs.
Maintain accurate records of site activities, including site measurements, progress updates, and incidents.

Allocate the appropriate level of labour, plant, and materials for varying project sizes.
Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and the internal team to ensure smooth project execution.

Experience Required:

Previous experience as a General Foreman with a civil engineering contractor, project experience in roads/highways would be beneficial

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, ensuring key programme dates are met.
Knowledge (with training provided) of various groundworks aspects, including: Use of cable avoidance equipment, Drainage and shoring system installations, Concrete placement and reinforcement, Hard landscaping with natural materials.

Required qualifications:

SSSTS essential. SMSTS (desirable)

CSCS (Gold card). Black card is desirable
NRSWA (New Roads and Street Works Act).
First Aid at Work

Confined Spaces certification (desirable)
