We are currently supporting a client of Conrad Consulting's in their search for a Bid Writer to join their city centre Glasgow team.

As a Bid Writer, you will be integral to the preparation, submission, and management of bids for new construction projects. You will work closely with Bid Managers, technical teams, and other stakeholders to ensure that bid proposals meet the highest standards and are delivered on time.

Key Responsibilities of the Bid Writer:

  • Bid Preparation: Coordinate and assist in the preparation of bids, proposals, and tender submissions, ensuring that all documents meet client requirements, company standards, and deadlines.
  • Tender Management: Support the end-to-end tender process, including gathering and organising relevant technical, financial, and legal documents required for bids.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and technical experts to ensure accurate and comprehensive input for bid submissions.
  • Document Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all bid-related documents, ensuring version control and compliance with internal processes.
  • Cost Estimation Support: Assist in liaising with cost estimation teams to compile accurate cost breakdowns for inclusion in bid documents.
  • Client Liaison: Communicate effectively with clients and other stakeholders to clarify tender requirements, track submission progress, and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Compliance & Quality Control: Ensure bids adhere to all legal, regulatory, and client specifications while upholding the company's quality standards.
  • Project Timeline Management: Monitor and manage bid deadlines, ensuring that submissions are completed on time and in accordance with agreed schedules.
  • Market Research: Conduct research on industry trends, competitor activities, and potential opportunities to support bid strategy development.

Qualifications & Experience of the Bid Writer:

  • Previous experience in a bid coordination role within the construction consultancy industry or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of the construction industry, including project management, technical specifications, and procurement processes.
  • Experience working on public and private sector tenders, with knowledge of UK procurement procedures.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with experience using bid management software a distinct advantage.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team, and to independently manage responsibilities.

Experience in working for a construction consultancy would be highly advantageous but experience within the construction industry is essential.

Desirable Skills of the Bid Writer:

  • A degree or professional qualification in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with high-value or complex construction projects.
  • Familiarity with UK public procurement regulations, including OJEU and other tendering frameworks.
