Our client, a prominent organisation in the maritime sector, is currently seeking 70 Detailed Designers to work on the a Maritime Canadian Programme. These roles are on a contract basis and are critical to the successful completion and delivery of this significant engineering venture.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering design solutions in line with the design intent and considering all stakeholders such as operations, commissioning, and support.
  • Working within established design constraints and managing any non-adherence through appropriate processes.
  • Coaching and guiding trainees and early career designers, contributing to their vocational qualifications and development.
  • Performing self-checks and peer checks of engineering outputs to ensure adherence to the quality management process/system.
  • Managing personal workload effectively to meet schedule requirements as directed by the Line Manager.
  • Supporting team leaders in scheduling and tasking the work of the team where required.
  • Engaging with detail design stakeholders in engineering and supporting functions to ensure effective communication and design integration.
  • Assisting customers during the approval process for spatial design as compartment or system owners.


Job Requirements:

  • Proven technical capability and experience in detail design processes and Design Management Systems (LCM or equivalent).
  • Ability to work as part of a team with a degree of technical autonomy while performing complex tasks such as validation and verification of designs.
  • Experience in carrying out audits and checks of Detail Designers' outputs, maintaining technical accountability for design scope.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills to support early career programmes and the development of aspiring designers.
  • Effective time management skills and proficiency in tools and techniques to meet schedule requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to describe engineering issues to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Capability to assist team leads in coordinating team members and managing routine tasks.
  • Understanding of the importance of stakeholder engagement in the successful delivery of design solutions.
