Sales Executive - Fine Chemicals

We are working with an onshore and offshore fine chemicals company. Their chemical products serve the oil and gas, transport, marine and hygiene markets. They are seeking a Sales Executive for a field-based role.

This role will cover a territory in Glasgow and the surrounding area.

You will work primarily with the onshore customers. The role holder will be mobile and travel regularly to customers, supporting them in their need for fine chemicals. This will mean each day attending meetings some can be very short some take a bit of time. You will be on industrial parks and in areas with prospective / new companies and also take the opportunities while there to drop by and knock on doors so to speak.

There is a range of applications of these chemicals within their portfolio, anti corrosion, cleaning, de icing, dichlorination and many others, with a portfolio of around 300 chemicals.

We are primarily seeking a good salesperson with a positive attitude to the role and who can work hard to achieve results.

The role will focus on:

  • Developing the territory by means of increasing sales to existing customers and actively seeking new customers. This is done in-person and involves attending meetings every day.
  • Identifying individual customer requirements and matching chemical products to those requirements;
  • Constantly seeking opportunities for new business, being the eyes, ears and friendly face of the company for new customers!
  • Achieving monthly order and sales targets as agreed with line manager;
  • Covering allocated area(s) to the required company standards to both established and potential customers;
  • Administration and management of allocated area(s) in accordance with the companies policies and procedures
  • Reporting on sales activities using the appropriate company documentation;
  • Maintenance of established and prospective customer records and all equipment in accordance with company policy and procedures;
  • Attendance at sales meetings and sales training courses;
  • Ongoing development by regular reading, study and practice;
  • Expansion of the number of onshore customers and maintenance of regular sales with such customers;
  • The observance of company management procedures;
  • Obtaining of maximum benefit of time in order to optimise amount of face to face selling time with maximum number.

Please note that while the client is involved in the fine chemicals market, on this occasion it is not essential to have formal chemistry education. The primary drive of success is down to personality skills that candidates have and their own drive. You must have prior experience of working in sales and be able to evidence your track record of success.
