My client is an international design and manufacturing organisation, with a fantastic reputation in a multitude of different industries. They are well established, with an impressive history within the UK across a number of different sites.

They are looking to add an experienced Group HSE Manager to their leadership team. This role will be based from their site on the outskirts of Glasgow, however will take responsibility for pushing the UK HSE function forward.

The successful HSE Manager will report to the Global HSE Director and will be hands on and visible, providing their expert advice, coaching and supporting all employees on HSE requirements and best practice.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring company adheres to the most current and relevant UK HSE legislation
  • Keeping updated with alterations in legislation and implementing changes where relevant to maintain consistency with requirements
  • Conducting risk assessment to ensure safety & health hazards are corrected, eliminated or guarded
  • Participating and supporting in accident and near-miss investigations and recording the findings
  • Chairing monthly HSE meetings with site management and employee HSE representatives
  • General day to day activities, such as reports and briefs to improve site safety and support the site
  • Implement environmental strategies including carbon reduction plans, and processes to ensure continual improvement across operations in line with the company objectives
  • Lead the site on safety improvements
  • Design & deliver HSE training
  • Flexibility to provide HSE to other sites within the UK, and travel to other sites as required (approx. 3-4 times per annum)

Qualifications & Experience required:

  • NEBOSH diploma or a post-graduate degree in Health, Safety & Environmental
  • CMIOSH
  • Experience of working in a heavy engineering environment
  • At least 3 years experience in a similar role, preferably in manufacturing
  • Knowledge and experience of the application of continuous improvement tools, specifically problem solving
  • Experience of communicating and influencing at all levels of an organisation
  • Experience working with external authorities
  • Thorough understanding of Safety and Environmental standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001)
  • A sound understanding of the application of current and relevant HSE legislation
