Reed is working with a busy construction and utilities company right in the heart of Glasgow who are seeking an experienced Safety, Health, Environment, Quality, and Training Manager.

This company is proud to be one of Scotland’s most prestigious electrical, civils, and communications works businesses in the region, and are looking to continue their high health and safety standards with a new Manager that can foster a positive health and safety culture within the organisation.

As the SHEQT Manager, the responsibilities of the role will be:

  • Developing new health and safety policies/legislation with strategic business objectives in mind.
  • Overseeing quality control processes, conducting regular site inspections, and facilitating all forms of risk assessments (manual handling, driving, fire risk, COSHH).
  • Leading accident/incident investigation and ensuring all relevant documents are updated.
  • Managing site audits and ensuring the business is complaint across all works and with environmental regulations.
  • Develop and deliver health and safety training programmes to staff and clients, whilst also consistently improving the training matrix.
  • Giving strategic guidance to senior management on all health, safety, and environmental matters.
  • Leading environmental initiatives, implementing sustainable processes, developing strategies to reduce carbon footprint, aiming for net zero goal.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A background in health and safety, ideally in the construction/utilities sector, or in organisations with large manual labour forces (manufacturing, transport/logistics, facilities, engineering etc.)
  • To ideally possess the following qualifications: IOSH Managing Safely, IOSH Working Safely, NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction, NRSWA Supervisor.
  • Excellent up-to-date knowledge of health and safety systems and legislation.
  • Experience in a fast-paced organisations with a varied workload.
  • Ability to lead and train others, whilst demonstrating high levels of professionalism.
