Office Location: Hybrid working and can be based in Glasgow or Edinburgh.

Parity Network are recruiting on behalf of a public sector organisation, who are looking for a Employee Relations Team Manager.This role will be hybrid working, with time spent on site in their Glasgow or Edinburgh offices.

As an Employee Relations team Manager, you will lead a team of people consultants to support the business with complex employee relations matters and redeployment cases. Providing advice and support on cases work relating to employees such as Disciplinary, Capability, Grievance and Absence cases, and other complex investigations - as well as supporting employees who are assigned to the Career Transition Programme, supporting on skills development and identifying work placement opportunities.

The team provide Employee Relations advice and support on a range of topics, including reviewing and drafting documentation, advising on process, and understanding potential employment / legal risks while working with our joint trade unions. You'll be supporting the team where required and will be a point of escalation for more complex and sensitive matters.

What you'll bring

  • Have a good understanding of employment law as it relates to employee relations and have a history of handling complex cases to conclusion - up to and including tribunal.
  • You will have hands on experience of attending meetings and managing cases to be able to fully support and advise your team. Ideally you will have experience in working with trade unions.
  • Ability to investigate and resolve complex issues quickly and efficiently, with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with both internal stakeholders and external partners, including our external Employment Law advisors.
  • A high degree of discretion, and good understanding of data protection regulations (e.g. GDPR).
  • Have a continuous improvement mindset, always looking for ways to improve the service, and empowering line leaders to resolve small issues before they develop into bigger problems.
  • Experience in a leadership position to be able to coach and develop a small team of People Consultants, while fostering a positive and productive work environment.
