About the Role

Are you a highly motivated HR leader with a passion for building strong relationships and developing people? Certain Advantage are working closely with a well-established business to recruit for a Group HR Manager to lead and develop the in-house HR function.

This role would be best suited to candidates with experience in Construction, Property, Manufacturing or Engineering.

Based in either Glasgow or Ayrshire, though you will be travelling between the sites, you will work closely with senior leadership to advise, coach, and support in achieving business goals through effective people management. This role will involve providing expert guidance on HR policies, employment law, talent acquisition, and development.

Key Responsibilities

Culture & Values:

  • Promote and embed the company's Mission, Vision, and Values throughout HR policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive environment to support employee satisfaction and retention.

Group HR Leadership:

  • Develop HR strategies aligned with company goals and ensure HR support to drive growth and success.
  • Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the Group.

Employment Law & Compliance:

  • Stay updated with the latest employment law and ensure compliance across the business.

Talent Acquisition & Retention:

  • Lead the recruitment process to attract a diverse and skilled workforce.
  • Manage third-party agency providers to meet day-to-day business staffing requirements.

Employee Development:

  • Collaborate with the CSR and Training teams to create impactful employee development programs.
  • Support line managers in identifying and developing high-potential employees.

Performance Management:

  • Develop and oversee performance appraisal processes, training managers to support performance improvement.

Employee Relations:

  • Manage employee relations matters, ensuring fair and effective conflict resolution and a positive work environment.
  • Ensure Senior Managers are trained on disciplinary and grievance procedures.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Manage competitive compensation and benefits programs aligned with industry standards.

Diversity & Inclusion:

  • Promote diversity and inclusion initiatives to foster an inclusive workplace culture.
  • Report on diversity metrics for relevant business purposes.

HR Metrics & IT:

  • Analyse HR data to drive informed decisions and improvements in HR practices.
  • Research and implement HR technologies, including the rollout of an HRIS system.

Commercial Management:

  • Effectively manage HR-related budgets and resources to deliver high-quality HR services.

Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as an HR leader, preferably in the construction or a related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Scottish employment laws and regulations.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to solve complex HR problems.
  • HR certification (e.g., CIPD) is a plus.
  • A valid UK driving licence.
