Technical Designer

Glasgow (Remote)

£540 p/d (Inside IR35)

Join a collaborative team of infrastructure designers working remotely across the UK. This role offers the chance to contribute to a dynamic and innovative technology function, delivering reliable and forward-thinking infrastructure solutions. This is a pure design role, where you will be doing initial design, it is essential that you have expert experience in VMware to be successful in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-level and detailed infrastructure designs.
  • Evaluate infrastructure costs within approved solutions.
  • Create adoption roadmaps, reusable design patterns, and hardware/software standards.
  • Develop operational and use case models for emerging technologies.
  • Ensure design governance aligns with architectural strategies and roadmaps.
  • Provide consultancy on project estimates, high-level designs, and impact analyses.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Expertise in multi-disciplinary environments.
  • Ability to justify financial cost estimates for project scopes.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficiency in IT design processes and technical decision-making.
  • Technical experience in:
    • Operating Systems: Windows Server, Red Hat Linux
    • Networking: TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory
    • Databases: Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle
    • Collaboration Tools: Exchange, MS Teams, SharePoint/SharePoint Online
    • Virtualisation: VMware ESXi
    • Cloud Platforms: Azure
    • Desktop Systems: Windows
  • You must be able to run workshops and manage resources.

It would be advantageous if you had Broad design experience in financial services or other critical Industries.
