3rd Line Support Engineer - Glasgow (3 days onsite) - 12 month contract PAYE

Are you a talented 3rd Line Support Engineer with a strong background in enterprise-scale Linux/Unix environments and excellent scripting skills?I have an immediate opportunity for a client in central Glasgow to join their busy team supporting in-house developed applications and systems. This role requires expertise in monitoring and observability tools, as well as configuration management and virtualisation technologies. Flexibility to work out of hours/weekends as part of a shift rota is also expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 3rd line Application Support for their inhouse developed applications and systems.
  • Develop and maintain scripts to automate tasks and improve system efficiency.
  • Use Splunk and/or Grafana/Prometheus/Loki stack for monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Use Ansible and/or Terraform Enterprise for automation
  • Support virtualisation environments, including VMWare.
  • Manage high availability and disaster recovery solutions with Veritas Cluster Service.
  • Adhere to ITIL principles for incident, problem, and change management.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong Linux/Unix background with advanced scripting skills.
  • Experience with Splunk and/or Grafana/Prometheus/Loki stack.
  • Proficiency in Ansible and/or Terraform Enterprise.
  • Knowledge of VMWare and Veritas Cluster Service.
  • Understanding of ITIL principles.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with Docker and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes/OpenShift.
  • Experience with JVM tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of version control systems like Git or Bitbucket.
