Head of Software required for a well-known and expanding Digital Transformation consultancy in Glasgow. This is a role for an experienced Software Manager who is comfortable managing a large Software team and working across large-scale software projects and clients.

The company:

They are a Digital Consultancy based in Glasgow with around 300 staff, and are looking to grow even more. They continue to be very busy and feel lucky to have a diverse and large portfolio of clients - from Finance to Public Sector to FMCG. They continue to win lots of work that comes off the back of several new client wins over the few years, with the additional retained and large-scale client base.

Previously, they have been focused on smaller pieces of work, however they are now more of a consultancy model and working on longer, larger-scale projects. They have a great office in Glasgow and they would ideally have someone on a hybrid approach, two days a week. It is a large and very modern setting, with a strong office presence.

The role:

You will be coming in to lead a wider team of 35 Software Developers, with around 4 "heads of" directly reporting into you. This is a traditional Head of Software/Engineering Director type role, however this business do like their senior leaders being passionate about technology. Although you will be totally hands-off, someone who holds an interest in the latest tools and technologies and who can make key decisions in technology use moving forward, would be an excellent match for this role. You will also potentially be involved in higher-level architecture discussions as well as speaking to clients about technology, so having a technical background is key.

As this organisation are a consultancy, having a similar background would be very helpful. You will potentially need to stand in front of clients to have technical conversations and be able to potentially pitch and win new business. Someone who has never worked in that environment before, may struggle. As the business is expanding, there are natural growing pains and it will be useful to have experience of turning around some less well-performing teams.

Key Skills:

** A number of years in a Head of/Director of Software Engineering role, ideally in a consultancy or agency capacity

** Having managed largescale and multiple teams of Software Engineers, up to 30+

** Experience in growing teams including extension and expansion to accommodate new capabilities and offerings

** Strong technical and software background, with interest and knowledge in the latest tools and technologies

** Ability to speak to and present in front of new and prospective clients

This is a big opportunity for a senior software leader, to help to grow and transform a software business. If this role is of interest, please apply or call Hamish at Cathcart Technology.
