Overview
As a Route Planner, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient scheduling and optimisation of transport operations. Working with cutting-edge planning software, you will create and manage routes that minimise costs, maximise efficiency, and meet customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing, planning, and scheduling optimal routes for drivers, factoring in distance, load sizes, and costs.
- Utilising route planning software and tools to improve route efficiency.
- Accounting for variables such as traffic, weather, and vehicle capacity to ensure smooth operations.
- Keeping accurate records of routes and making adjustments as necessary.
- Resolving any issues or challenges that arise during the transportation process.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of local and regional transportation laws and regulations.
- Coordinating with customers, clients, and drivers to provide real-time updates on transportation status and estimated arrival times, while addressing any concerns.
- Continuously seeking improvements to enhance route planning efficiency.
- Monitoring and managing vehicle tracking systems.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Route Planner or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in mapping software, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of safety and transportation procedures.
- A detail-oriented and organised approach to work.
