Overview

As a Route Planner, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient scheduling and optimisation of transport operations. Working with cutting-edge planning software, you will create and manage routes that minimise costs, maximise efficiency, and meet customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing, planning, and scheduling optimal routes for drivers, factoring in distance, load sizes, and costs.
  • Utilising route planning software and tools to improve route efficiency.
  • Accounting for variables such as traffic, weather, and vehicle capacity to ensure smooth operations.
  • Keeping accurate records of routes and making adjustments as necessary.
  • Resolving any issues or challenges that arise during the transportation process.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of local and regional transportation laws and regulations.
  • Coordinating with customers, clients, and drivers to provide real-time updates on transportation status and estimated arrival times, while addressing any concerns.
  • Continuously seeking improvements to enhance route planning efficiency.
  • Monitoring and managing vehicle tracking systems.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Route Planner or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in mapping software, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of safety and transportation procedures.
  • A detail-oriented and organised approach to work.
