MAINTENANCE TEAM LEADER

 

We have a new job vacancy for a maintenance team leader to keeping equipment and machinery in optimum operational condition. This includes all mobile plant, heavy static plant such as shears, balers and shredders, and other relevant equipment used within the metal recycling industry.

 

LOCATION: Glasgow

WORKING HOURS: 43.75 hours per week, 07:45 - 17:00, Monday to Friday.

                               Regular overtime available.

JOB TYPE: Permanent

SALARY: £27.00-£29.00/hr (equivalent to £61,425-£65,975/annum)

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The diagnosis and resolution of breakdown problems.

• To respond rapidly to breakdowns thereby minimising the period of time any equipment is out of action.

• To ensure all machinery is maintained to a high standard and capable of operating in line with Company standards.

• To comply with all machine operating systems.

• To keep accurate records of all machinery on site.

• To complete and maintain all documentation on the company CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System).

• Identify and manage out risks through regular audits, risk assessments and site walks.

• Manage multiple contractors and issue relevant permits to work.

• Develop, train and mentor team members through regular appraisals and use of internal and external training resources.

• To make written and/or verbal reports to line managers as required.

• To attend progress meetings with line managers as and when required.

• Liaise with suppliers and contractors as required.

• Source spare/replacement parts at best possible price/lead time.

• Process orders via the Purchase Order system.

• Act as first point of contact for site production and outside agencies.

• Co-ordinate all labour activity within your sphere of influence.

• Organise and prioritise work in co-ordination with the Site Management Team.

• Represent the maintenance department at meetings.

• Provide advice and assistance on all plant across the site.

• To comply with Company policies and procedures as defined in the Staff Handbook and the post holder’s terms & particulars of employment.

• To carry out any additional duties that may be reasonably requested from time to time.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Proven track record of working in a comparable role.

• Ability to strip down and rebuild hydraulic, mechanical components on heavy machines.

• Ability to weld metals of all types including heavy sections & assemblies.

• Able to understand technical drawings relating to machinery.

• Competent in lifting and slinging.

• A working knowledge of Mobile & Static plant maintenance.

• ONC level qualifications or equivalent.

• NVQ Level 3 or above in a relevant subject.

• IT Literate with the ability to use a range of packages applicable to the role, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (emails).

• People Management/supervisory skills.

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

 

DESIRABLE SKILLS

• HNC qualifications in a relevant subject area.

• Capable of the diagnosis of component level hydraulic faults.

• Ability to operate basic machine shop machinery; lathes, milling machines etc.

• Working knowledge of 3-phase electrics.

• The ability to work in a clean room environment.

• Relative experience in metal recycling and other associated processes.
