We have a Mechanical Fitter role available within Aggregate Industries Chryston site. This site is responsible for the manufacturing of concrete products to both domestic and commercial customers.

This position is ideal for a time served fitter with experience within a heavy industrial environment.

Role: Mechanical Fitter

Location: Aggregate Industries, Auchengeich Rd, Moodiesburn, Glasgow G69 0JL

Rate: £17-20ph (dependent upon experience)

Fixed element bonus also included

Overtime: OT 1.5 for any hours over 45

Contract length: 3 months initially with the possibility of an extension/offer of a permanent position

Shift Patterns: Mon-Fri, 06:30-16:00 (45 hours per week)

Start: ASAP

Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out planned maintenance and repairs to site equipment
  • Contributing to the preparation and development of Safe Systems of Work for repair procedures
  • Responding to unplanned repairs and other requirements
  • Responding to plant breakdowns
  • Ensuring temporary fixes are followed up with a permanent solution
  • Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping
  • Dealing with all daily issues professionally
  • Supporting and training operatives to complete minor maintenance tasks
  • Carrying out safety inspections
  • Operating the site cComputerised Maintenance Management System
  • Reacting promptly to site breakdowns
  • Monitoring and ensuring that all plant stoppages, breakdowns, and logs are documented correctly
  • Completing and adhering to all Safety related documentation for all maintenance activity

Essential requirements:

  • Full UK Driving License and access to own vehicle
  • Previous experience within a heavy industrial environment (2+ years)
  • Proven experience as a mechanical/maintenance fitter
  • Knowledge and experience around hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, concrete mixers and silos.
  • Mechanical biassed qualification (time served apprenticeship, Level 2 or Level 3 NVQ)
  • Fabrication and welding experience (2+years)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and drive to support the rest of the team
  • Experience planning and implementing maintenance schedules
  • Good knowledge of working to engineering drawings
  • Strong understanding of current Health and Safety Legislation
