Job description

First Achieve's Engineering Division have an excellent opportunity for a Workshop Mechanical Plant Fitter to join a nationally established company in the Central Belt region, for their Edinburgh premise.

What's on Offer:

  • Straight to perm role
  • Monday to Friday
  • Mon to Thurs 8am to 5pm and Fri is 8am to 4:30pm
  • Workshop based

This role will report directly to the Workshop Manager and you will be expected to work as part of a collaborative team of operatives in ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of a wide array of heavy plant and machinery.

Duties will involve the following:

  • Ensure machinery operates efficiently and adheres to all safety regulations.
  • Take proactive steps to identify and resolve potential issues before they escalate.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and technical support as required.
  • Communicate technical issues and solutions clearly to both customers and team members.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of work completed and parts used.
  • Contribute to a positive, productive work environment by collaborating with the team.
  • Uphold the company's high-quality standards and recognize the importance of customer satisfaction.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose technical problems, delivering effective solutions promptly.
  • Manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Essential skills, experience and knowledge:

The successful candidate must have:

  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical engineering (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, HND, or equivalent)
  • Previous experience working with heavy plant machinery is essential
  • Full, clean driving license is preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, and electrical systems related to heavy plant machinery.
  • Demonstrated experience in the plant industry or a comparable field.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting abilities and the capability to identify and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical individuals.
  • A customer-centric approach, committed to delivering top-tier service.
  • Capable of working both independently and within a team, showing initiative and problem-solving expertise.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, maintaining attention to detail while upholding safety and quality standards.
