PURPOSE OF ROLE 

We're working with a prominent insurance company to identify a skilled individual for a critical role. Could this be your next career move?  We are looking for a Senior Property and Casualty Underwriter in Glasgow to join an award winning Insurance company . This exciting role will give you the opportunity to shape the business narrative and be a key player in driving its growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES  

Client Representation - Serve as the primary representative for the company in presenting tailored insurance solutions to Mid-Market and Mid-Corporate clients.

Negotiation - Work directly with clients to negotiate insurance coverage, terms, and pricing to align with their specific requirements.

Pipeline Development - Build and maintain a pipeline of potential new business, focusing on high-quality, qualified growth opportunities.

Large Case Management - Take charge of managing large case processes for new business, ensuring efficiency and alignment with company standards.

Broker Relationships - Develop strong, collaborative relationships with brokers and directly source profitable commercial business opportunities.

Underwriting - Underwrite new business with a focus on profitability, ensuring adherence to established underwriting guidelines and controls.

Distribution Strategy - Create and sustain a strategic distribution and communication plan with influential brokers to support quality market positioning.

Team Support - Support team Underwriters, contributing to their performance through collaboration and mentorship. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Progress toward Dip CII qualification preferred, or equivalent professional experience. 

EXPERIENCE 

  • In-depth underwriting expertise within a commercial insurance setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of the insurance market and processes within commercial lines operations.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience making informed decisions across diverse technical underwriting scenarios in a commercial context.
  • Coaching and development experience in a similar professional environment.

SKILLS 

  • High-level trading skills, including strong negotiation abilities and the capacity to build solid broker relationships.
  • Practical decision-maker with solid analytical and numerical reasoning skills.
  • Advanced analytical skills with a track record in account monitoring and proactive planning.
  • Exceptional skills in risk assessment and risk management.
