Job description

First Achieve's Engineering Division have an excellent opportunity for a Quality Manager to join an established and growing company in the Glasgow region. Our client is a national manufacturer, dedicated to top-quality door solutions for a diverse range of sectors including Shipbuilding, Navy Supply, Oil & Gas, and offshore Wind Energy Projects.

What's on Offer:

  • 40hr work week
  • 5 working days (early Friday finish)
  • 7am to 4:30pm Mon to Thurs, 7am to 12pm Fri

This role will report directly to the (manager title) and you will be expected to work as part of a collaborative team of operatives in ensuring the (overall job responsibilities)

Duties will involve the following:

  • Manage a small team of dedicated Quality Control personnel.
  • Maintain certification requirements for all relevant products.
  • Continually improve & maintain the Quality Management System to ISO 9001 standards.
  • Liaise with 3rd party certification bodies i.e. Lloyds.
  • Promote quality & quality systems at all levels within the organisation.
  • Facilitate problem solving, improvements & rework.
  • Carry out internal audits.
  • Liaise with customers & suppliers where necessary (where impacting/affected by quality issues).
  • Analyse data to determine the performance of the Quality Management System.
  • Maintain Technical Files

Essential skills, experience and knowledge:

The successful candidate must have:

  • Experience of implementing & maintaining an ISO 9001 system.
  • Certified to IRCA Internal Audit standard.
  • Experience of managing a Quality Management System within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experienced in Quality Management System audits.
  • Knowledge of fabrication, welding and assembly standards, methods, & procedures.
  • Inspection and Calibration techniques.
  • Experience with military standards (Aerospace or Marine) would be advantageous but not essential.
  • An analytical & logical approach to problem solving, with an eye for detail.
  • Effective communicator at all levels, both written & verbal, with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate staff and prioritise activities.
  • IT & mathematical ability for interpreting figures & statistics.
  • Customer focus & good business sense.
  • Problem solving/business tools.
  • Continuous improvement experience would be desirable.
