Reed is currently working with a busy and dynamic law firm based in Glasgow city centre, who are looking for an experienced Immigration Legal Secretary.

Ideally, we are seeking a motivated and experienced legal professional, with knowledge in immigration law and a background in administrative legal positions.

The main purpose of the role will be to assist the Head of Immigration in typing and liaising with the Home Office, whilst strengthening the team and providing secretarial support to fee earners.

The responsibilities of the role will be:

  • Providing support to fee earners in the immigration department.
  • Preparing and organising immigration legal documents, like applications and letters.
  • Liaising with clients over the phone and in person, taking details and arranging meetings with them.
  • Submitting legal aid applications and use online portal.
  • Arranging appointments with clients and interpreters.
  • Using their case management system to open/close files and support the preparation of documents and letters.
  • Meeting and greeting clients at the office, liaising with then over the phone, and assisting with queries.
  • Liaising with third parties like Home Office, other law firms, interpreters etc.
  • Supporting fee earners and completing occasionally completing ad-hoc office admin when necessary.

To succeed in the role, you must:

  • Have experience as a legal secretary or in supportive legal roles (preferably in the immigration department at a firm)
  • Be proficient at audio and copy typing.
  • Have experience drafting legal documents.
  • Be familiar with case management software.
  • Be warm and approachable to colleagues and clients at all times.
  • Have excellent organisational skills with good attention to detail.
  • Have strong general administrative skills.
  • Enjoy working as part of a busy team.
