Rubicon Consultingis currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer on a 12 month contract based in Glasgow.
Role Summary

Designing and delivering advanced motor, drive and control technologies, we serve specialized sectors such as marine, industry, energy and all related services.
We are looking for a contract mechanical engineer to work in the Naval equipment design team within our systems engineering organisation in Rugby.
You will be responsible for developing our next generation of electrical drives and distribution equipment for Naval and Marine applications.
You will be involved at all stages of the product development process from concept to manufacturing, collaborating with Project Managers, Technical Leads, and the power systems and power electronics teams to deliver on customer requirements.
Due to the security restrictions on this role, applications will only be accepted from UK Nationals who either hold, or are eligible for SC security clearance.
Requirements
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, or relevant experience in a mechanical design engineering environment.
Significant engineering experience with good technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, sheet metal design, DFMA and material selection.
A strong track record in product development, ideally gained in the industrial or electrical equipment sectors.
The ability to interpret electrical schematics and use them to develop suitable mechanical designs.
Proficiency in the use of PTC Creo, or similar 3D CAD software for the creation of 3D part and assembly models and 2D drawings.
Good engineering, communication, and organisational skills.
You must be a sole UK National and hold or be eligible to obtain UK security clearance to SC level.
Desirable:
Experience of the design of power electronics equipment and fluid handling systems.
Experience in the use of Siemens Team Center PLM software for BoM creation & management.
Previous experience of UK Naval engineering projects.
