Would you like to solve some of the most interesting design challenges in the defence industry today? Due to continued investment, this global business is currently looking for multiple Principal Mechanical Engineers to join their existing teams in either Glasgow, Manchester or Bristol (hybrid working, 3 days a week onsite) on an initial 12 month contract.

The Role

As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will create significant value by leveraging your skills and experience to generate outstanding new build and in-service design solutions. Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Maintaining the engineering configuration, ensuring the overall design intent and integrity is maintained throughout design lifecycle
  • Evaluate technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions, including process improvements
  • Provide support to the Project Manager for the planning, control and delivery of tasks and projects
  • Produce, review, verify and approve outputs including: calculations, analyses, technical reports, technical specifications and method statements

You

To succeed within the role of a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you'll have experience in a similar position and have the following skills:

  • Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in relevant engineering discipline, with significant demonstrable experience
  • Chartered Engineer status (or actively working toward Chartered Status)
  • Experience in working collaboratively in multi-discipline teams to deliver activities on a range of project types

In addition, experience in managing engineering scope for Projects from concept design to full Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) would be highly regarded.

Please note that due to security nature of this role, we can only consider those who have lived in the UK in the last 5 years and is eligible for BPSS/SC security clearance.
