Team Leader - Detail Design Engineer

  • Are you an experienced Detail Design Engineer looking for a new challenge, either on a permanent or contract basis, in Glasgow?
  • Would you like to join a Team with new and exciting projects?

If yes, Belcan has the role for you as we are now looking to recruit a Team Leader Detail Design Engineer, to lead a team of engineers in the delivery of spatial detail design activities across programmes within the Belcan Marine systems.

The role has a strong focus on engineering delivery and quality, providing a focal for technical governance and support to the team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the detail design activities of spatial integration modelling, production outputs supervision/checking, and customer change capture and embodiment.
  • Support production operations in relation to the areas under their supervision, as required.
  • Work in an Engineering Service environment and balance technical responsibilities with commercial and project timescales.
  • Support the Engineering manager in monitoring, maintaining, and scheduling work to the team.
  • Provide required output reports and key metrics of performance to the Engineering manager.
  • Aid with staff training and mentoring of staff to hit delivery requirements.

Experience Required and Minimum Qualifications

  • Preferably degree qualified. However, other qualifications and experience will be considered.
  • Preferable minimum of 10 years marine experience with at least 4 years in a senior or team lead role.
  • Must have marine engineering and/or a defense-related industry experience.
  • Highly proficient in the use of appropriate tools and techniques used by the team (e.g. Windchill, Foran, etc).
  • Thorough awareness of naval or commercial ship design rules and specifications.
  • Highly capable communicator both written and spoken.
  • Excellent team player with a tenacious and resilient attitude.
  • Experience in project coordination and/or management.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting responses in assigned areas.

For this role you must be eligible to obtain UK security clearance.
